Chosen helps children heal from trauma by strengthening their families. They serve foster, kinship, adoptive and reunified families. Children who have been harmed in relationship can only heal in relationship. Chosen’s holistic approach addresses children’s mental and behavioral health needs, as well as caregiver and sibling needs. They are relentlessly committed to doing whatever it takes to set children on a path of healing.
In home or via telehealth, Chosen accomplishes this work using the best evidence-based practices and a discipleship model. Their program staff provides parent coaching, therapeutic resources, targeted case management and peer mentors. Since launching these programs in 2016, they have had ZERO disruptions for families we’ve worked with for 6 months or more. Intervention and healing changes a child’s trajectory to prevent tragic outcomes like: high school drop outs, substance abuse, homelessness and mental illness.
Parent to Parent support groups during COVID-19 crisis
Chosen’s mission to help children heal from trauma by strengthening families has never been more needed to prevent children from re-entering the system. During COVID-19, Chosen has begun live online parent to parent support groups who meet multiple times per week. Specifically, this is for foster, adoptive, kinship and reunified birth parents in any location. We know children who have experienced abuse and neglect express trauma behaviors that can be very difficult to parent. This rich time online includes trauma-informed education and answers to the toughest issues parents are facing today. More than ever, caregivers need to be supported so that families do not break down. Extra time at home can actually bring restoration of connection, which leads to the healing our children desperately need.
